Inauguration at Uppsala University Hospital

Mattias Klum participated in the inauguration of a new neonatal unit at Uppsala University Hospital Friday, 1 October. The Swedish Minister of Research and Education, Thomas Östros och Hospital Director Erik Hemmingsson spoke at the opening ceremony. Mattias in Swedish TV-show

Mattias Klum continued to appear in the Swedish TV-show "Tv-huset". The show is hosted by Kattis Ahlström and is broadcasted Sundays 18.00 on SVT1. Mattias talked about and showed photos and films from his photographic expeditions around the world, among other things. Exhibition

On 11 september 2004 to 6 january 2005, there will be an exhibition of photos from Mattias Klum's book "Horse People" in the museum Arbetets Museum, in Norrköping. "Horse People" is a photojournalistic book about the very special relationship between man and horse. The book visits seven special people in seven parts of the world, examining this intimate relationship that links us to our pastoral past.

Mattias participates in the National Geographic LIVE! series of lectures in the United States, featuring adventurers, world-renowned explorers, scientists, photographers, filmmakers, and journalists. Mattias Klum presented his show "The Passion of Seeing Wildlife" on Tuesday, March 16, in Chicago and on Tuesday, March 23 in Seattle. Mattias in EU Press Conference on Biodiversity

On Monday 9 February 2004 Mattias Klum participated in a press conference on biodiversity in Brussels hosted by Commissioner for the Environment Margot Wallström. Ahead of the international conference on Biodiversity in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Commissioner Wallström called for action to put a brake on the decline in biodiversity in the EU and globally. Swedish National Geographic photographer Mattias Klum delivered a illustrated presentation on biodiversity at the press conference.

Mattias in Antarctica

During February 2004, Mattias Klum went on a cruise to Antarctica on the ship m/s Nordnorge. The trip was arranged by National Geographic Sweden and Äventyrsresor in partnership with Diner's Club International. The cruise started at 13 February in Chile, continued through the fjords of Patagonia, through the Drake Passage, around Cape Horn to Antarctica and ended in Ushuaia, Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina. During the trip, lectures was held on the history and wildlife of Antarctica and the environmental concerns of the region. There is more information about the trip here.
